The dream of The 383 began many years ago when the owners first met. Working in bars & restaurants at the time developing a admiration for industry &  the look and feel of shipping container builds. Fast forward to their time managing Solitary Island Resort, a premium holiday destination in the Northern Rivers, dedicated to providing unique experiences for families across Australia and beyond.

At the Resort, our focus has always been on creating magical moments and unforgettable memories for families seeking to escape the daily grind. Located in the seaside village of Wooli, surrounded by the natural beauty of National Parks and nestled between the Wooli Wooli River and stunning Instagram-worthy beaches, Wooli is a destination like no other.

However, there was one thing missing—a space where families, friends, and visitors could gather to eat, drink, play, connect, and create memories. We envisioned an all-encompassing gathering space with great music, local craft beers, boutique wines, affordable food, and a play space that catered to all ages.

Inspired by the converted shipping container markets and food trucks in America, we set out to create a family-friendly hub. The result is The 383—a bar, café, and indoor play space housed in 17 modified upcycled shipping containers. The full lifecycle from planning to opening doors spanned over four years, but the result is a testament to our dedication and vision.

We’re here to serve you with locally crafted rotating tap beers and a menu featuring the finest and most eclectic cuisine the town has to offer.

The 383 is more than just a bar; it’s the ultimate gathering space—a place for events, backyard parties, and a haven where kids can truly be kids. We’re excited to welcome you to The 383 and to create new memories together!

Although it has a great ring to it, The 383 is derived from our street location, which is 383 North Street Wooli. It’s a unique and memorable way to connect our business with its physical address.

It is pronounce as “The Three Eight Three.” It’s simple and straightforward, creating a strong association with our location and make it easy for customers to find us.

Good news for our gluten-free guests! You can enjoy any of our pizzas with a gluten-free base. Our fries, including sweet spud fries, are also gluten-free, as are the fries served with our burgers and ribs. And if you’re looking for something lighter, our seasonal salads are also available as a gluten-free option.

Experience the local flair of Wooli with our pizza menu, where each slice is named after a nearby area or landmark. Dive into the stories behind our pizza names and savor the taste of Wooli’s unique heritage!

‘Diggers’

Diggers Camp is just a quick four-kilometer jaunt over an unsealed road north of Wooli. The name comes from a gold mine that used to be here back in the late 1800s – Clarence Valley’s only coastal gold mine. While we can’t promise you’ll strike gold, the sunsets are pure treasure!

‘Candole Chicken’

Candole State Forest spans approximately 6,900 hectares and is situated just 17km from Wooli. The forest has a rich history, with severe logging for blackbutt, ironbark, and white mahogany dating back to the 1930s. In the 60’s, intensive treatment efforts were initiated to promote rapid regeneration and growth, ensuring the forest’s generational sustainability.

‘Minnie Meat Lovers’

Minnie Water, is our neighboring historic fishing town. It’s one of the oldest fishing towns on the NSW coast, known for its good anchorage in the shelter of the southern reef. The town gets its name from the permanent water that drains across the beach.

‘The Soli Hawaiian’

‘Soli’ is not just short for Solitary Islands Resort; it’s also the name of one of our miniature goats! Back in 2016, Soli and Isla were part of our furry family, adding some extra antics and charm to the resort.

‘One Tree’

Up at the northern entrance of Wooli beach, there used to be a tree that everyone called One Tree. Even though the tree’s gone now, we still call it One Tree Beach!

‘Breakwall’

Wooli is like your own private island getaway – a cozy three-kilometre-long stretch of land hugged by the Pacific Ocean and the picturesque Wooli Wooli River. The peninsula comes to a dramatic end at the break wall, where the Wooli Wooli River meets the sea. This southern tip is where all the fun is at (other than Solitary Islands Resort): Whether you’re casting a line off the wall, catching some waves at the beach breaks, checking out Marine Rescue HQ, or watching the fishing boats cross the bar, there’s always something exciting happening here.
